How many Black students were enrolled in Tangipahoa Parish schools in 2023-24 school year?

There were 9,126 Black students enrolled in Tangipahoa Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.8% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Tangipahoa Parish welcomed 19,359 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 47.1% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the parish.

Among the 32 schools within the parish, Hammond High Magnet School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 830 students.

Louisiana's educational performance is among the lowest in the nation, according to a WalletHub analysis. The state was ranked 47th overall, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
