Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, has recently shared several statements on social media regarding current political and economic issues.
On September 8, 2025, Scalise wrote: "Democrats want power in Washington. Republicans are giving power back to the American people. The Working Families Tax Cut means more take-home pay for tipped workers, overtime earners, and hardworking families."
A day later, on September 9, 2025, he commented on new jobs data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics: " New BLS jobs data shows Biden’s economy was even WORSE than reported: 911,000 fewer jobs — the worst revision since 2000. @POTUS is RIGHT to demand transparency and changes from the BLS, and was RIGHT to work with Congress to pass historic pro-growth policies to create jobs".
Later that same day, Scalise addressed a recent crime case involving Iryna Zarutska: "Iryna Zarutska should still be alive today. The monster who murdered her was arrested 14 TIMES, but Democrats' soft-on-crime policies kept putting him back on the street. Why didn’t the legacy media cover this heartbreaking tragedy? Because they don’t want you to know what".
Scalise has held his seat in Congress since replacing Bobby Jindal in 2008. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1996–2008) and briefly in the Louisiana Senate in 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson Parish at age 57, Scalise graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
