Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, posted a series of statements on his social media account between September 11 and September 14, 2025, addressing topics ranging from the anniversary of the September 11 attacks to recent law enforcement actions and criticism of media rhetoric.

On September 11, Scalise marked the anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the United States by stating: "On the 24th anniversary of 9/11, we honor the lives lost, the bravery of our first responders and everyday Americans, and the strength of our nation. In the wake of this tragedy, we refused to let terrorism destroy the American spirit. Today we must do the same. Never Forget."

Two days later, on September 12, he commented on a high-profile criminal case involving conservative commentator Charlie Kirk: "Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin has been brought into custody thanks to the quick work of the FBI and Utah law enforcement. For Charlie, his family, and our nation, justice must be served swiftly."

On September 14, Scalise addressed concerns about media coverage and its potential consequences: "For YEARS, legacy media smeared conservatives as “fascists” and “Nazis.” That reckless rhetoric empowers extremists who answer with violence. The media MUST do better."

Scalise has represented Louisiana’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Bobby Jindal in 2008. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of both chambers of Louisiana's state legislature from 1996 through early 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson Parish, Scalise holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
