Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, posted a series of tweets between September 15 and September 18, 2025, addressing topics ranging from commemorating public figures to legislative priorities in Washington, D.C.

On September 15, Scalise reflected on the legacy of Charlie Kirk, stating: "Tonight I joined my colleagues in remembering the incredible life and legacy of Charlie Kirk. We will continue to honor Charlie by standing strong in our faith and never being intimidated into silence. God bless Charlie, his family, and his enduring legacy."

The following day, on September 16, Scalise commented on recent law enforcement efforts in the nation’s capital: ".@POTUS has made DC SAFE again: More than 2,600 arrests, including gang members & suspected terrorists 9 children rescued Illegal drugs, including fentanyl, taken off the streets This week, House Republicans are building on that success with new laws to KEEP DC safe."

On September 18, Scalise criticized Democratic lawmakers for their approach to government funding and military support: "Far-left Democrats are trying to SHUT DOWN the government and defund our men and women in the military just in order to get taxpayer funded health care for illegals. They’re completely out of touch with hardworking American families who support our military and want strong"

Scalise has been active in national politics for decades. He succeeded Bobby Jindal as representative for Louisiana’s 1st congressional district in 2008 after serving both in the Louisiana House of Representatives (1996–2008) and briefly in the Louisiana Senate. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson Parish at age 57, Scalise is an alumnus of Louisiana State University.
