In a recent campaign video, Ryan Seal, a candidate for Washington Parish President, highlighted crime, quality of education, and local economic growth as the top issues he intends to address if elected on October 14th. A recent poll of Louisiana voters found that crime and low quality of education were the two top issues in voters minds, and could be the deciding factors in the race for Parish President.

Seal, in his campaign video, expressed his belief that Washington Parish is not a community in decline, contrary to what some people may say. He stated, "I think our Parish is poised to rebound from years of neglect by professional politicians." He acknowledged that the neighborhoods in Washington Parish are "fed up with crime and blight" and stressed the need for "serious, meaningful change."

The video also highlighted a proposed methadone clinic in Bogalusa as an example of "legislators pushing projects that do more harm than good." Seal emphasized that the status quo is not in the best interest of Washington Parish and pledged to bring the right kind of change if elected. He specifically mentioned focusing on issues like crime, quality of education, and local economic growth.

An August 2023 survey conducted by KTBS 3 revealed that high crime and low quality of education were the two biggest problems facing the state of Louisiana. These findings align with the concerns expressed by voters in Washington Parish.

The elections for Washington Parish, including the Parish President election, will take place on Saturday, October 14th. There are four candidates running for the position, and the winner will serve a four-year term. Ryan Seal is running as a Republican, according to the Secretary of State's office.
