Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district, posted a series of messages on X expressing his grief and condemnation following the death of Charlie Kirk.

On September 10, 2025, Scalise wrote, "I am incredibly sad and disgusted to hear of the passing of Charlie Kirk. Charlie was a loving father, husband, and conservative warrior. He was a man of deep faith and dedicated his life to educating people about civil dialogue while passionately articulating conservative".

Shortly after, on September 11, 2025, Scalise commented further on the circumstances surrounding Kirk's death: "Charlie Kirk's assassination was political. It’s disgusting and it’s not who we are in America. We must bring those responsible to justice swiftly."

Later that same day, he added: "Charlie Kirk was a visionary. His legacy will never be forgotten."

Steve Scalise has represented Louisiana’s 1st District in Congress since 2008 after replacing Bobby Jindal. Prior to serving in Congress, he held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate from 1996 through 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson, Scalise is an alumnus of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

The posts come amid widespread reaction to the reported assassination of Charlie Kirk, whose role as a conservative commentator made him a prominent figure within American political discourse.
