Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, shared a series of posts on social media between September 9 and 10, 2025. The tweets covered topics ranging from a meeting with an artist to public safety in Washington, D.C., and a call for prayers following an incident involving Charlie Kirk.

On September 9, Scalise expressed appreciation for Louisiana native Lauren Daigle, stating: "Grateful to Louisiana native and award–winning artist @Lauren_Daigle for visiting with us today. Wishing her a very happy and blessed birthday!"

The following day, Scalise addressed public safety efforts in the nation’s capital. He wrote: "House Republicans are backing @POTUS in his effort to make D.C. safe again. Democrats pushed soft-on-crime policies and tied the hands of law enforcement. We’ll end those restrictions and keep our Nation’s capital safe. " This statement highlights ongoing debates in Congress regarding law enforcement policies in Washington, D.C.

Later on September 10, Scalise posted about an incident involving conservative activist Charlie Kirk: "Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk after this senseless act."

Scalise has represented Louisiana's 1st District in Congress since succeeding Bobby Jindal in 2008. Before serving at the federal level, he was a member of both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1996–2008) and briefly served in the Louisiana Senate in 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965, Scalise resides in Jefferson and is an alumnus of Louisiana State University.
