Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, used his social media platform to comment on recent political events and celebrations involving Louisiana sports teams.
On October 18, 2025, Scalise criticized a rally and its participants, writing: "At the “Hate America” rally, leftists will celebrate their radical ideology, their hatred of Trump & their fight against him. Schumer will tout his shutdown that’s making millions suffer to appease his radical base. End the madness. Open the government."
Two days later, on October 20, 2025, Scalise addressed further demonstrations and the response from Democratic leaders: "This weekend, the radical left marched in “Hate America” rallies where people carried signs calling for the murder of President Trump. How have Democrat leaders responded? Silence. Absolutely disgraceful."
Also on October 20, Scalise posted about a visit to the White House honoring Louisiana State University baseball teams: "It was an honor to celebrate the 2 Louisiana baseball national championship teams, @LSUbaseball and @LSUS_Baseball, at the @WhiteHouse today. The Purple & Gold are well represented by these 2 incredible teams and it was great to celebrate their accomplishments with President".
Scalise has served in Congress since 2008 after replacing Bobby Jindal and previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate. He was born in New Orleans in 1965 and resides in Jefferson. Scalise is an alumnus of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
