ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE

PONCHATOULA---In order to install new cross drain pipes at two different locations in the soon-to-be constructed roundabout at Sisters Road, Tangipahoa Parish road crews will close Hoover Road on Monday, Feb. 20.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the work has been scheduled in conjunction with the Mardi Gras holiday so the closure will not interfere with school traffic.

Work is scheduled at two points—one just south of the Hoover Road/Sisters Road intersection, and the other at a spot just south of the Ponchatoula Parks Drive. Both cross drains will be completed by the end of the day, and the road will be reopened to traffic.

Updates on this project will be posted in the coming days, Miller said.

In addition to the Hoover Road roundabout preparations, there is much road work going on throughout the  parish. Miller said Phase 22 overlay is nearing completion, and bids are being sought for the Phase 23 contract now. This week the Phase 22 contractor will be working on the following projects:

Dressing: Brignac, Riverdale Heights, Company Road, Wallace Court, E. Mulberry Street, Premo Lane, Arcola Road, Peck Martin, Willie McCoy Road, Verberne Road, and Joe Dyson Road;

Paving: Company Road and Pine Street.

This week, the RPC contactor will be paving North Baptist and completing any outstanding patching on that stretch of roadway. RPC is also picking up any remaining mailboxes that were removed during the construction period.

All work is weather-permitting. Any related closures will be posted on the day of construction.
