Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, used his social media platform in early September 2025 to highlight Republican legislative priorities and recent developments under President Trump’s administration.

On September 1, Scalise posted a message marking Labor Day: "This Labor Day, we celebrate the American worker—finally being put FIRST again. Under President Trump, jobs are coming back, wages are rising, and workers have a true ally in the White House. "

Two days later, on September 3, Scalise addressed public safety initiatives in Washington D.C., stating: "House Republicans are working hand-in-hand with President Trump to Make DC Safe Again. We’re ending weak, soft-on-crime policies and making sure every criminal is held fully accountable."

Later that same day, he announced the opening of a new facility in Louisiana aimed at detaining violent criminal illegal aliens: "Thanks to funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill, the brand-new “Louisiana Lockup” at Angola is open—keeping violent criminal illegal aliens off our streets. Thank you @POTUS & @DHSgov for making our state safer & stronger."

Scalise has represented Louisiana’s 1st District in Congress since succeeding Bobby Jindal in 2008 and previously served in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson, Scalise holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
