Steve Scalise, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Louisiana's 1st district since 2008, has recently shared a series of tweets outlining his support for legislative measures aligned with the Trump administration's agenda. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and an alumnus of Louisiana State University, Scalise is advocating for policies he believes were mandated by voters.
On July 2, 2025, Scalise emphasized the importance of fulfilling campaign promises by stating that "The American people voted for the tax cuts, border security, and lower energy costs this bill delivers." He noted that these mandates were given when voters provided Republicans with control over the White House and congressional majority.
Continuing his advocacy on July 3, 2025, Scalise reiterated the alignment with former President Trump's objectives by describing "The One Big Beautiful Bill is the Trump agenda." He stressed the necessity to fulfill promises made to constituents during election campaigns.
Later that day, Scalise highlighted economic achievements under Trump's leadership. He announced that "President Trump’s economy crushed expectations AGAIN with 147,000 new jobs in June." Scalise attributed these economic gains to existing policies and suggested that further growth could be achieved through the proposed legislation.
