House Majority Leader Steve Scalise discussed the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) in an interview with Newsmax's Greta Van Susteren. Scalise emphasized that Democrats are prioritizing their dislike of former President Trump over supporting tax cuts, lower energy costs, and border security for Americans.

Scalise explained the bill's current status: "So the bill is right now in front of the House Rules Committee, and the members are going through it. We're going to bring the rule first to the floor tomorrow morning, and then we're going to finish up debate and then pass the bill to President Trump's desk tomorrow."

He criticized Democrats for opposing measures beneficial to middle-class families: "Right, Greta. And sadly, every Democrat from the beginning of this process walked away from trying to help those middle-class families because they just hate President Trump so much."

The OBBB aims to unify House Republicans despite narrow majorities. Scalise noted, "We can only lose three. It's been a very delicate balance from the beginning." The bill reportedly delivers on several aspects of Trump's agenda.

On social safety net programs, Scalise mentioned efforts to reduce waste: "We're actually cutting spending in this bill, getting rid of a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse."

The OBBB also focuses on simplifying the tax code: "Well, the first thing we do is prevent a tax increase in this bill. But...we go further and we actually make those changes permanent."

Scalise asserted that Democrats would impose higher taxes without this bill: "If the Democrats had their way...there would be a four-and-a-half trillion dollar tax increase."
