Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, posted a series of updates on social media highlighting recent legislative actions and commemorating influential figures in the conservative movement.
On July 16, 2025, Scalise wrote: "President Trump and Congressional Republicans just delivered real protection for families hit hardest by fentanyl. Now, we keep fighting to end the border crisis that brought it here."
Two days later, on July 18, 2025, he shared news about a legislative measure: "The House passed H.R. 4 — cutting $9 BILLION in wasteful government spending. No more tax dollars for woke propaganda or foreign climate scams. Proud to lead this bill and deliver on President Trump’s promise to restore fiscal sanity in America."
On July 19, 2025, Scalise paid tribute to Ed Feulner: "As the founder of @RepublicanStudy and longtime president of the Heritage Foundation, Ed Feulner was one of the architects who built the conservative movement in this country. I was fortunate enough to get to know Ed when I was RSC Chairman, and all of our Members benefitted from"
Scalise has represented Louisiana's 1st District since replacing Bobby Jindal in Congress in 2008. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1996 to 2008 and briefly in the Louisiana Senate during 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson, Scalise holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
