Steve Scalise, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, recently used his social media platform to highlight a series of actions and policies attributed to former President Donald Trump, focusing on trade deals and federal agency oversight.

On July 28, 2025, Scalise wrote about the administration's recent trade negotiations with the European Union: "President Trump secured a historic trade deal with the EU—rebalancing global trade and putting America First.

$750B in American energy exports

$600B in European investment in the U.S.

A massive win for American workers, farmers, and manufacturers."

Two days later, on July 30, 2025, Scalise posted a brief statement referencing what he called "The Trump effect," including an American flag emoji and a link: "The Trump effect https://t.co/a38D7DVxQc".

Later that same day, Scalise addressed past controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), stating: "The IRS was politicized under Obama — targeting Republicans with no consequences.

President Trump appointed Billy Long to fix it — and he’s wasting no time.

This is just the beginning. The IRS is finally being held accountable to the American people. https://t.co/rMiSxG1cpJ".

Scalise has been active in Congress since succeeding Bobby Jindal in 2008. Before joining Congress, he served in both chambers of Louisiana's state legislature from 1996 through early 2008. Born in New Orleans in 1965 and currently residing in Jefferson Parish, Scalise holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
