House Majority Leader Steve Scalise appeared on Fox News' "The Story with Martha MacCallum" to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) as it returns to the House after Senate approval. Scalise highlighted the importance of House Republicans supporting the bill, which aims to advance President Trump's America First agenda through significant tax and spending cuts, enhanced border security, and energy independence.
Scalise stated, "Members are looking through the changes that were made in the Senate, as they all should. But at the end of the day, this bill has over 85% of all the provisions for President Trump's agenda that left the House." He emphasized that preventing a $4.5 trillion tax increase and securing funding for border security remain priorities within the bill.
Discussing the legislative process, Scalise noted, "Well, and as you've seen through this whole process...every change you make on one side of the bill to appease maybe one group of people can impact the group negatively for 20 other members on the other side of the bill." He acknowledged JD Vance's role in breaking a tie in the Senate to advance OBBB.
Regarding bringing OBBB to a vote in the House, Scalise expressed confidence: "In the morning, we'll bring the rule first, and then...we'll bring the bill itself in the form it came from the Senate." He warned of severe consequences if OBBB does not pass and urged colleagues to support it to stimulate economic growth and fulfill campaign promises.
