Steve Scalise, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Louisiana’s 1st district since 2008, recently expressed his views on several key political issues through a series of tweets. Scalise, who succeeded Bobby Jindal in Congress and has a background in the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate, shared his thoughts on international recognition, domestic policy achievements, and partisan legislative dynamics.

On July 8, 2025, Scalise highlighted his support for Prime Minister Netanyahu's nomination of former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. He stated "No leader has done more to promote and deliver peace around the world than President Donald Trump."

Later that day, Scalise emphasized a recent legislative success with "America voted for change — and we delivered. The One Big Beautiful Bill puts money back in your pocket and puts America first." This statement underscores the focus on economic policies aimed at benefiting American citizens.

On July 10, 2025, Scalise commented on the partisan nature of recent tax legislation. He remarked "One week ago, every House Democrat voted against LOWER TAXES for the American people. But Republicans passed the One Big Beautiful Bill anyway—lowering taxes, creating jobs, and keeping money in your pocket." This tweet reflects ongoing tensions between political parties regarding fiscal policy.

Scalise was born in New Orleans in 1965 and resides in Jefferson. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
